Construction and operation of granulators
The main task of a biomass granulator is to reduce its volume into the form of cylinders a few centimeters long. Its efficient operation is primarily influenced by the construction of the machine, whose mechanism is based on a die and rollers. It is in the die where the extrusion holes are located, through which the material is forced. The rollers, on the other hand, are used to transport successive portions of biomass, simultaneously generating pressure, which causes an increase in temperature. As a result, the mass is compacted, and then cutting knives divide it into equal-sized granules.

Pellet granulators can operate independently, but when there is a need to produce large quantities of good quality pellet, they usually constitute one of the elements of a pellet production line. The most highly valued granulators are devices from the Münch and Promill brands. The former can have a capacity ranging from 1.5 to 4.5 t/h.
