Currently, we are increasingly deciding to use biofuels. Such a solution is, above all, safe for the environment and constitutes a great alternative to coal or wood, which have been widely used as fuel until now. One of the biofuels enjoying growing popularity is the briquette. Various raw materials can be used for its production. One of them is straw. However, for it to become fuel material, it must undergo appropriate processing. How is straw briquette obtained?

Production of straw briquette

Straw is one of the most readily available sources of renewable energy, which is why it is enjoying growing popularity. Its energy value after briquetting ranges from 16 to 19.5 MJ/kg, and practically no additional substances are needed for the production of straw briquettes. However, the use of appropriate equipment for briquette production is of great importance. The operation of this type of machine is quite simple and currently largely automated; therefore, its operation does not require a large number of operators or a significant amount of work on their part.

The key part of the production process begins with feeding the appropriately prepared, cleaned, and shredded material (straw) into the hopper, from where the raw material goes to the screw chamber by means of an agitator. In the screw chamber, the raw material is heated and compressed. As a result of compressing the input material, the briquette is extruded outside, usually in the shape of a cylinder with a diameter of 6-8 centimeters. It is less compact than, for example, wood briquette or pellet, but hard enough to survive transport and reach the end user intact.

Application and advantages of straw briquette

Straw briquette is a universal source of thermal energy, because it can be used not only in traditional heating boilers, but also in fireplaces, tiled stoves, heating plants, and even in automated boiler rooms. That is exactly why briquetting machines are very eagerly chosen equipment, right next to pellet production machines. The biggest advantage of straw briquette is the fact that they constitute a 100% natural fuel, and additionally, they burn easily and cleanly; it is enough to simply supply the appropriate amount of air to the boiler. In addition, it is a material that is easy to distribute and store, and moreover, it can be kept for a long time in dry places. Importantly, a suitable machine for the production of straw briquettes ensures their efficient and easy acquisition.
